Our bespoke programmes

Building. Belonging.

Innovation is critical to the continued learning and development that sits at the heart of Grit. We are committed to developing new ways of reaching and impacting young people - especially those experiencing the highest levels of disadvantage.

Historically, we have produced outstanding results on these bespoke programmes, with some of our most ‘at risk’ young people. From conflict resolution in Belfast and Kosovo, to acclaimed projects in prisons or partnering with business leaders to inspire enterprise. Oxford University describe,

“Results three times the expectation of other programmes.  The young people have transformed their lives and they now work for the community instead of against it.”

These programmes are co-designed: we work with partners to create an approach that combines their local knowledge and intelligence with the unique Grit ‘ingredient’.

Aspirations are raised, offending reduces and social cohesion grows.

Using a combination of intensive group workshops, one-to-one life coaching, professional development and a tailored sustainability plan, we build approaches designed to create transformation across the multiple layers of the community setting.

We are always looking for new ways in which our work can support young people and adults to reconnect to each other, to work together in transforming how they approach and engage with life and with their community.

Young person

“I have a five-month-old daughter and have begun to take full responsibility for my life. I’m thinking more, stopped abusing alcohol, stopped drugs and reached the finals of a competition… If you can change my life I’m sure you can change anyone’s”

Professional

There were so many breakthroughs occurring at regular intervals throughout every moment of the course …Transformation is a word used too readily in my opinion, the true ability to transform people in a short period of time happens rarely. I feel extremely privileged to have been part of a group that witnessed this occur in the space of six days. It happened slowly sometimes without the young person realising, but it clearly occurred to all around.

Volunteer

“He had, through the coaching, figured out that nothing was going to change in his life unless he made the change for himself. He had gained the confidence to go out and get himself a job which made him feel proud of what he was doing. I felt extremely proud to have been part of the process.”
