Sue Cook - Trustee
Sue has worked in social care for over 40 years starting in a residential children’s home when she was 19 and is currently the Executive Director for People Services for Suffolk County Council. This covers all aspects of Adults, Children’s and Public Health for the county.
Sue has experience across both operational and strategic functions in various roles in local government and worked in the voluntary sector for the first ten years of her career. Her motivation derives from a deeply felt commitment to do whatever she can to address social injustice.
Sue first came across Grit when working for Essex Children’s services in the late 1990s, she was struck by the potential to contribute to addressing social injustice through personal transformation. She was so impressed by the impact Grit made on her staff as well as young people that she took the programme with her to Southend and then to Suffolk.
When Sue isn’t working she loves nothing more than to be on a yoga retreat or in her garden.
